This is a series of portraits shot early in the morning. I set up the lights and camera the evening before and was handed the keys to their apartment. The next morning, while they were still sleeping, I walked into their bedroom. When I turned on the lights, they sat up in bed and I took the photo.
Photographing individuals in the morning, immediately after waking up, was a deliberate attempt to capture something personal and unfiltered. I aimed to portray facial expressions minimally influenced by intentional posing. I contacted the majority of participants through phone calls, and around half of those reached out expressed interest in being part of the "Morning Portraits" project. Those who participated did so out of curiosity and a genuine interest in the concept. Some were initially cautious, apprehensive about how they might react when I arrived in the morning, wondering whether they would feel uneasy or respond unexpectedly.
The series has been shown in a group exhibition at the Österbotten Photo Museum (Finland) and in a solo exhibition at Gallery Storck (Norway).
