MIRAGE
This series originated from an instinctive drive towards water. I delved into water's capacity to both reflect and distort light, where the visual impact is influenced by the interplay of daylight and angle of the camera. It served as an exploratory project, marking the beginning of my extensive work with people in water.
A mirage is defined as "something visible but nonexistent." Refraction in water has the capacity to generate a distorted image, reminiscent of mythological characters and creatures. Historically, water has been used to symbolize the underworld or shadow aspects within. It can represent a state of change and transformation, often invoked in baptismal ceremonies for purification.
The Mirage series has been shown in various venues in Finland, Norway and Denmark.
